If a proxy server is
used, you may encounter message "... services not available now
..." from within the One Stop Permitting Opal application. We have
found a solution which works with Wingate and other proxy servers. It is a
two step process:
1) On each PC we had to
create a hosts file mapping site opal.pascocountyfl.net to the ip address of the proxy server. On Windows 98 the hosts
file goes in the c:\windows directory. The name is hosts (with no
extension). Our hosts file had one line which looked like this:
192.168.101.100
OPAL.PASCOCOUNTYFL.NET
(The IP address of our
proxy server was 192.168.101.100)
2) On the proxy server
we had to create a TCP mapping service to accept incoming requests on port
6725 and remap them to opal.pascocountyfl.net port 6725. Note: We did NOT
create a hosts file entry for opal.pascocountyfl.net on the proxy server.
Once this was complete,
we were able to get past the "... services not available now ..."
message and successfully use Opal.
The exact steps to
accomplish the TCP mapping service will vary depending on the type of proxy
server you use. Please consult
your proxy server documentation or technical support.
